CNH Industrial’s New Holland site in Saskatoon, Canada is highlighting the importance of protecting biodiversity and the environment by planting trees in celebration of World Environment Day 2021.
World Environment Day was created by the United Nations to raise international awareness and action to protect the environment and is celebrated on June 5 every year. This year’s World Environment Day theme is Ecosystem Restoration, with a special focus on creating a good relationship with nature and reviving damaged ecosystems.
The Saskatoon manufacturing site decided to support this initiative by planting trees on its property. “We liked the idea of taking concrete action and plant trees right here at our site in Saskatoon,” said Caley Halcro, Environmental Specialist at CNH Industrial in Saskatoon. “We have completed two events in May planting trees that are native to our region, including 20 Poplar, and ten Prairie Horizon Manchurian Alders. In addition, we plan on planting 20 native Red Osier Dogwood shrubs in the fall.”
Planting trees are key to support wildlife habitats, take climate action and create beautiful areas for recreation. These combined tree planting events will help the Saskatoon plant reduce 90 lbs of annual CO2 emissions. CNH Industrial’s commitment to sustainability is a long-term priority. The company has set key targets to align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), one of those being climate action.
CNH Industrial is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial goods, from tractors, combines and construction equipment, to trucks and buses, as well as powertrain solutions. The Saskatoon plant produces planters, seeders, combine heads, cultivators and air carts under the New Holland Agriculture brand.
